Peel Land and Regeneration Brainery inspire future development careers at North West Careers expo

Peel Land and Regeneration Brainery joined forces to introduce attendees to careers in property, development and the built environment at the North West Careers and Apprenticeships Expo on Wednesday 21 October. Their joint attendance brought the partnership to life through conversations about opportunities for young people across the sector, including an introduction to NorthFold, the Wigan-Bolton growth corridor.

The expo welcomed over 2,000 visitors across the afternoon at Bolton Wanderers FC. Students spoke to Mo Martin, Student Outreach Co-ordinator at Regeneration Brainery; Lisa Marsh, Associate Director of Partnerships at Peel Land; and Emelia Mountford, PR and Marketing Assistant at Peel Land, alongside two Regeneration Brainery ambassadors. The team helped attendees understand the property and built environment sector and explored the potential career pathways Regeneration Brainery can offer.

The partnership combines Peel Land's industry knowledge and networks with Regeneration Brainery's experience of engaging young people, with the aim of making careers in the development sector easier to understand and access. Taking part in the expo supports Peel Land's wider commitment to creating opportunities in the communities where it works.

Lisa Marsh said: “It was fantastic to work alongside the Regeneration Brainery team and speak directly with expo attendees about the breadth of opportunities across property, development and regeneration. By bringing together our industry insight with Regeneration Brainery’s experience of engaging young people, we can help bring the sector to life and inspire the next generation of talent. The expo also gave us a valuable opportunity to introduce the Northfold initiative, the Wigan-Bolton growth corridor, ahead of our joint activity during Brainery Week in November.”

Mo Martin said: "It was a fantastic day and a great example of the value of bringing our partnership to life. Having Peel Land alongside us meant we could go beyond telling young people about the opportunities within property and regeneration and show them what this looks like in practice, using real projects and industry insight to bring those career pathways to life.

"Being able to do this in Bolton made it particularly special, with so many of Peel’s projects rooted in places guests knew. Opportunities in major cities are important, but it is just as vital that young people recognise the development happening on their own doorsteps. When they can see the places they know, being transformed it becomes easier to imagine themselves playing a part in that future. This not only makes careers in the sector feel more accessible but also helps foster a sense of connection and pride in their local area."

Manchester Brainery Week will build on the expo’s introduction to NorthFold, taking the partnership into its next phase from 16–20 November across different boroughs in Greater Manchester. For Regeneration Brainery, this will be the first Brainery Week to begin outside the city centre. The programme will open in Wigan before continuing to Bolton with a focus on Peel Land’s NorthFold initiative, connecting its careers activity with the Wigan-Bolton growth corridor. The partners will continue working to broaden access to careers in the built environment, with further updates to follow the November programme.
